Many years ago I dreamed of working for network news in NYC, and a few weeks ago I got a taste of what that might look like.
I took part in an Executive Leadership Program - learning alongside 24 other professionals in the journalism world for a week at ABC News World Headquarters in New York, New York. The Asian American Journalists Association organized this event, and it was an honor to be a part of this year's cohort.
One of the highlights from the week was meeting my newest mentor - Juju Chang. Sharing a meal with this fellow Korean American Storyteller was a priceless experience. Not only is she a successful journalist, she is also a happy wife and a present parent.
Juju took the time to learn about my personal background, watch my stories and share her feedback so that I can grow both personally and professionally.
I'm grateful to the Asian American Journalists Association for matching me with such a genuine and warm-hearted mentor and for providing a program that allows professionals like myself to get equipped with tools to take our careers to the next level. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Kimbop TV! :)
